We support local community events and activities. Examples include:
The Caspian Challenge
The annual Caspian Challenge and 5k road race is typically held in late July starting at the ball field in Greensboro (corner of Lake Shore Road and Breezy Avenue). The race consists of the classic, rolling 6.7-mile loop around Caspian Lake as well as a flat, out-and-back 5k race. Registration opens in June!
Caspian Lake Sailing
The Association sponsors a number of races that take place on Caspian Lake each summer. Check back for schedules. Races have been taking place on Wednesdays and Saturdays in August.
Funky Fourth
We sponsor the July 4th parade which includes lots of local talent and the Bread and Puppet wondering entourage. We often also sponsor the live and silent auction to benefit important efforts.
Green Sheet Calendar
We also publish an online “Green Sheet” calendar of traditional events that take place each year. Members of the community can email [email protected] to get their event listed in the calendar.
The Greensboro Community Garden
The Greensboro Community Garden is an all volunteer effort to grow fresh, organic produce for our local community. Established in 2021 in front of the Greensboro Town Hall, an average of 350 pounds of produce is grown annually, donated to the Hardwick Area Food Pantry and distributed at Smith’s Grocery in Greensboro Bend and The Giving Closet in the town hall. To get involved, please contact Liz Steel at [email protected] or Jenny Bayles at [email protected]
Tour de Greensboro
We are pleased host the annual Tour de Greensboro, a 25km, classic ski tour on some of the most scenic trails in the northeast, starting and ending at Highland Lodge. Recent event sponsors have included Toko US, Lumi Experiences, Highland Lodge and Willey’s Store.
Member Directory
Every other year, the Association publishes a member directory that includes a range of valuable community information. The directories are sold at Willey’s. We now are utilizing new membership management software. This streamlines dues payment and an updated and functional online membership directory. Every member has a username and password that enables them to update and confirm contact information, pay dues and donations online.
